Site Visit at Ongoing Retaining Wall Project at the St Joseph River

RELEASE DATE: 04 May 2021

On Tuesday 4th May, 2021, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health/Member of Parliament for St Joseph, Mr. Navin Ramsingh, Chief Technical Officer and a technical team from the Ministry conducted a site visit of an ongoing drainage project at the St. Joseph River to assess the status of the project.

A retaining wall is being built at the St Joseph River by the Drainage Division as part of its preparation for the rainy season. This project is also in keeping with the Division's mandate to develop and maintain main water courses and irrigation systems across Trinidad.

The Division has also been actively engaged in its 2021 Drainage Desilting Works to ensure that major water courses are cleared during the dry season to prevent excessive runoff or flooding.

It is anticipated that the retaining wall will be completed within a three week timeframe, weather permitting. Stay connected with the Ministry's social media platforms for updates. Photos Courtesy the information Division
