On Monday 30th January, 2017, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport made an impromptu visit to the Licensing Division on Wrightson Road, Port of Spain where he saw first-hand the challenges faced by both the staff and the public in completing their transactions.

The visit which lasted approximately an hour, gave the Minister the opportunity to tour the various sections of the Licensing Division and listen to the frustrations faced by the public at all levels of service received by the Division.

Minister Sinanan in addressing the concerns of members of the public gave the commitment towards an improved Licensing Division, which will be strengthened by the passing of key legislation for the creation of a new Motor Vehicles Authority. The Ministry’s thrust to modernize and computerize the Division, evident in the recent launch of the new Driving Permit System, will be instrumental towards improving customer service moving forward.

The Modernization of the Licensing Department has been reviewed as part of Government’s commitment to achieve a more efficient transport and regulatory system underpinned by better quality service and security. This is the first visit of the Honourable Minister to the Licensing Division since his appointment as Minister of Works and Transport on November 1st, 2016.
