Minister of Works and Transport, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan will visit Port of Spain following the conclusion of his tour of the constituency of Siparia. Minister Sinanan will conduct first hand preliminary assessments of several areas adversely affected by the torrential downpours and flash flooding experienced in Port of Spain and environs, shortly after lunch today.
A technical team from the Ministry of Works and Transport is currently on site on the Lady Young Road where a major land slip has been reported.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and MOWT wishes to advise all motorists there will be a traffic diversion from Maryland Hill (by the look out) to the Trinidad Hilton, as that area is impassable at this time. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes, if possible.
The Ministry of Works and Transport is utilizing all necessary manpower and will work overnight to return affected areas to a state of normalcy in the shortest possible timeframe.
