Expressing condolences for the lives lost and concern for those injured near Charlieville on the UBH

Release date: 2/5/2019

The Ministry of Works and Transport extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the
passengers who were involved in the fatal road traffic accident on the Uriah Butler Highway near
Charlieville, on February 5, 2019.

The Ministry is also greatly concerned for the many passengers that have been seriously injured in this
incident. It is very unfortunate that once again, Trinidad and Tobago has lost precious lives on our
roadways. The responsibility of safe driving is a serious issue that cannot be ignored. As a result, we
continue to urge the general public to be vigilant, responsible and law abiding when using the nation’s
roadways.

At this time, we thank all road users for partnering with us as we seek to change our road culture
towards the reduction in road fatalities to zero.
