The Honourable Jearlean John, Minister of Works and Infrastructure, joined the Honourable Christopher Landau, Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America, on 10 August 2026 for the Official Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Ibis Steel Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited.
In her address, Minister John said the reopening of the plant represents more than a return to operations. It signals new opportunities for jobs, investment and economic growth in Trinidad and Tobago.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to create employment, support local economic activity and position Trinidad and Tobago as a supplier of vanadium, a valuable metal used in steel production and the growing energy sector.
The reopening of the facility is another positive step towards expanding local industry, attracting investment and creating new opportunities for Trinidad and Tobago and its people.
