NOTICE OF IMPOSITION OF SANCTIONS BY THE LICENSING AUTHORITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION SSC OF THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND ROAD TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT ACT, 2017 (ACT NO. 9 OF 2017).

 
This is an official Notice of the Imposition of Administrative Sanctions by the Licensing Authority for UNPAID Fixed Penalty Notices (Traffic Tickets) issued during the period November 1-30, 2021 and January 1- December 31, 2022.
Public notices were previously published in the Trinidad Guardian, Trinidad Newsday and Trinidad Express on September 29, 2023; October 2, 2023 and October 4, 2023 respectively, advising that a listing of unpaid and uncontested Fixed Penalty Notice(s) with the recipients' names was posted to the Ministry's website. This measure was adopted since the Transport Commissioner, as the Licensing
Authority, intended to impose administrative sanctions and issue notices to the driver/owners of the possible sanctions in accordance with Sections SSA-SSB of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Ad, 2017 (Ad No. 9 of 2017) as a result of the following:
 
l.    There was no recorded payment of the fixed penalty amount in respect of the Fixed Penalty Notice/s within the thirty (30) day period for payment,
  1. There was no record of a Notice to Contest, in respect of the Fixed Penalty Notice/s being filed with the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago,and
  2. The fixed penalty plus one-half (50%) of the amount of the fixed penalty is overdue for payment
 
Recipients of Fixed Penalty Notices were also given the opportunity to either pay the outstanding fixed penalty or make written representations and provide reasons why the intended administrative sanctions should not be imposed by the Licensing Authority.
Recipients of Fixed Penalty Notices issued during the period November 1-30, 2021and January 1- December 31, 2022 are advised that, in the absence of payment of the outstanding fixed penalty and the submission of written representations to date, with effect from November 20, 2023 the Licensing Authority will be imposing the following administrative sanctions in accordance with Section 88C of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Ad, 2017 (Ad No. 9 of 2017):

*   Cease all transadions in relation to the driver of the said motor vehicle, which was involved in the commission of the traffic violation.

The recipients of Fixed Penalty Notices are advised that theadministrative sanction shall be removed/lifted immediately upon the payment of the outstanding fixed penalty (fixed penalty plus 50% of that amount) at any authorised TTPost location nationwide.
