Who We Are

The Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) provides short-term employment opportunities to people who are unemployed.  It is an initiative designed to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of its participants while assisting communities by providing landscaping and small-scale construction services.

Work is assigned on a rotation basis every two to three fortnights.  Vacation time and employment benefits are not provided but participants receive a monetary stipend for their efforts.
Currently, steps are being taken to ensure that participants receive adequate training through the Programme that meet the standards set by the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards.  This improvement will help to enhance participants’ skills and make them more marketable for future employment.
URP comprises three main components:

 * The Core Employment Component
 * The Women’s Programme
 * The Special Projects Delivery

 * It is free to apply to the URP Programme.
