Third Lane from Chaguanas to Chase Village Delivered

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has officially opened the newly constructed third lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway between Chaguanas and Chase Village (southbound), marking another major milestone under the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway Widening Project. This infrastructure upgrade expands the highway from two to three lanes in both directions, significantly improving mobility along one of the country’s busiest transport corridors. Additionally, a newly built lay-by near Bhagwansingh’s Hardware has been partially opened to facilitate improved traffic flow and accessibility for motorists.

This enhancement is expected to deliver major benefits to citizens, communities, and the nation by reducing travel time, easing traffic congestion, and improving road safety for thousands of daily commuters. Beyond convenience, the project supports economic activity and connectivity between north and south Trinidad, strengthening national infrastructure resilience. The Ministry continues to advance final works such as drainage, pedestrian safety features, guardrail installation, and pavement rehabilitation to ensure the project’s long-term durability and effectiveness.
