The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure continues to make steady progress on critical slope stabilization works along the Naparima–Mayaro Road 31km mark. This project was initiated aafter over-saturation of the soil led to significant slippage in the area.
To strengthen the area and prevent further movement, the Ministry’s teams are constructing a retaining wall supported by deep concrete foundations. Currently, works are approximately 55% complete, with excavation, shoring, and the installation of the reinforced concrete pile base being undertaken. The next phases will include backfilling, restoring the roadway, and painting the completed walls. Once completed, these works will improve road safety, ensure uninterrupted access, and bring greater security and peace of mind to residents and the wider community.
