Slope Stabilization at Mandigo Road, Princes Town 1.2 km

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has begun critical slope stabilisation works along Mandingo Road, Princes Town, at the 1.2 km mark. These emergency interventions were launched following severe land slippage, which significantly affected road safety, limited accessibility and connectivity and posed risks to homes.
Currently, works are approximately 30% completed and the scope of work includes:

  • Installation of a 28-metre gabion basket wall on a reinforced concrete base to stabilise the area around the most affected property
  • Construction of a 39-metre reinforced concrete retaining wall on a piled foundation at the 1.2km mark
  • Implementation of critical drainage measures to prevent further soil oversaturation, including reinstated drains, perforated piles within the retaining wall and underground rubble drains
Once completed, the project will restore safe access for motorists and residents, protect surrounding properties, and help make the community more resilient to future flooding and landslips.
