Drainage Infrastructure Upgrades - Valencia

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, through its Drainage Division, is currently undertaking critical drainage infrastructure upgrades along the Aripo River at La Platta Gardens, Valencia. These works are being carried out following the collapse of an existing retaining wall caused by soil movement, which posed a risk to nearby properties. The scope of the project includes the demolition of the compromised retaining wall, the construction of a new reinforced concrete retaining wall, and repairs to the outfall drainage system to improve water flow and overall channel performance.

Upon completion, these upgrades will significantly strengthen erosion protection, reduce the risk of further structural failure, and safeguard homes and properties in the surrounding area. Improved drainage efficiency will also help mitigate flooding and enhance water management for the wider Valencia community. This project forms part of the Drainage Division’s ongoing commitment to upgrading national drainage infrastructure and protecting communities across the country from water-related risks.
