Stacy Roopnarine was born on June 27th 1984 and is a resident of Goodman Trace, Penal. She attended Iere High School, Siparia, where she was also captain of the school's first girls' football team. She holds a B.Sc. in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of the West Indies.
Ms. Roopnarine is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Oropouche West. She was sworn in as Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport on January 28th 2011.
Prior to taking up public office as MP for Oropouche West, serving as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, and now as Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Ms. Roopnarine worked as an engineer at Digicel from 2005 to 2010.
She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is also a certified Grade C Football Referee.
