MINISTRY TAKES ACTION TO CURB ILLEGAL PLACEMENT OF ADS

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure hereby advises the public that it is illegal to place signs, advertisements, billboards or any similar type of device on any of the following Ministry assets: traffic lights, medians, bridges, walkovers, road reserves, without prior written authorisation from the Ministry.  Persons and organisations who engage in this activity are asked to desist immediately.

In this regard, the Ministry also wishes to advise that it will be taking action via our Estate Constables, who will be patrolling and removing all illegal signage installed in the places mentioned above. Further, the Ministry will seek to initiate legal action in accordance with the Highways Act and Regulations against those persons who persist in engaging in this illegal practice.

This exercise is being undertaken in the interest of road safety as these illegal advertising displays conflict with authorised traffic signs, are distracting to motorists and deface the property of the Ministry.
