Beetham Highway Lane Expansion Project Printable Version

Beetham Highway Lane Expansion Project

The POS Access Project entailed the widening of the Beetham Highway from the NP Flyover to the Light House heading west which has already been completed, and the addition of a third lane from South Quay to Abattoir Road along the east bound carriageway.

The widening between South Quay and the Light House (east bound) has been completed. The third lane continues from the Light House to Abattoir Road and widening of the East Dry River Bridge. The total length of the new east bound lane is approximately 920 metres.

The major benefits of the project are to ease of traffic congestion between South Quay and Abattoir Road heading east, while increasing the capacity of the roadway.

Additional benefits include removal of the conflict between motorists and the Diego Martin Maxi Taxi's, by the creation of a designated maxi taxi Lay Buy and improvement to the safety of the roadway by the widening of the East Dry River Bridge to accommodate three standard lanes to International Standards
