The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the public that authorisation has been granted to LIGHT MOTOR VEHICLES ONLY to utilize the Priority Bus Route from Pashley Street, Beetham to Vierra Street, Port of Spain from today (Thursday 11th November 2021) until further notice.

Minister Sinanan Meets With Taxi Associations of the Barrackpore Area

MOWT Addresses Barrackpore Protest Action

The Ministry of Works and Transport notes with great concern, recent protest action in the Barrackpore area on Monday 11th October 2021. Burning debris was placed at various points along Rochard Douglas Road, Papourie Road, Kanhai Road, St. Croix Road and Oropouche River Road, which serve as major connectors into the Barrackpore area.

Closure of Authorised TTPOST Payment Locations on Thursday 30th September, 2021

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise members of the general public who are in receipt of fixed penalty notices (traffic tickets), that all authorised Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) payment locations will be closed on Thursday 30th September, 2021 (ONLY). This closure of TTPost’s Corporate Retail Shops is due to the undertaking of its Annual Stock Taking exercise.

Further Extension of the Validity of Expired Licensing Documents

Given the impact of the ongoing State of Emergency and the COVID-19 Pandemic on the operations of the Licensing Division, Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago has taken a decision as follows:

1. Driving permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division which expired on or before January 31st 2022 shall be deemed valid until 1st February 2022.

2. Any transfer of vehicle registration required to be completed on or before January 31st, 2022 may be completed on or before 1st February, 2022.

Works to repair and stabilise the site of a major landslip on the S.S. Erin Road, 16.5 km Mark, Siparia have begun.

Works to repair and stabilise the site of a major landslip on the S.S. Erin Road, 16.5 km Mark, Siparia have begun. 

While temporary road works were recently undertaken on the landslip, inclement weather has contributed to additional damage causing a complete closure of the roadway.  On Monday 16th August, 2021, Senator Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport, participated in a site inspection with a team of officials from the Highways Division who provided an overview of the required technical work plan.

MOWT Successfully Clears North Coast Road Landslide Overnight

The Ministry of Works and Transport through the use of in-house resources successfully cleared a landslide that occurred on the North Coast Road in the vicinity of the “Pillars” on August 10th 2021.  This landslide was caused by natural fissures within the rock which deteriorated over time, and was further exacerbated by the recent heavy rainfall, which loosened the material.
