Release date: 9/13/2021

Further Extension of The Validity of Certain Documents Issued by the Licensing Division and the Period in which to complete the registration of transfers of Motor Vehicles

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to remind members of the public of the amendments to sections 19 (7) and 61B of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 48:50. The amendments were operationalized by the Miscellaneous Provisions [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)] (No. 2) Act, 2020 (section 7).

Given the impact of the ongoing State of Emergency and the COVID-19 Pandemic on the operations of the Licensing Division, Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago has taken a decision as follows:

1. Driving permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division which expired on or before January 31st 2022 shall be deemed valid until 1st February 2022.

2. Any transfer of vehicle registration required to be completed on or before January 31st, 2022 may be completed on or before 1st February, 2022.

Members of the general public are asked to pay particular attention to the dates specified in this document.

Persons seeking to conduct any transactions at the Licensing Division must utilize the online scheduling appointment portal at https://licensingappointment.mowt.gov.tt/. Customers are encouraged to explore all available time-slots at licensing locations nationally if your preferred location is unavailable.
